Philosophy

Knob Hill Day Nursery’s philosophy is based on the principle of viewing each child as unique and an individual who learns at his/her own pace and in various ways. Each child is viewed as competent, capable, curious and rich in potential and able to contribute as an individual and collectively to our community.

Knob Hill Day Nursery incorporates “How does Learning Happen?” (A resource to support curriculum and pedagogy in Ontario’s Early Childhood settings) and uses it as a guideline to develop our program and to ensure that we are offering opportunities to promote the four foundational conditions (or ways of being which are Belonging, Well-being, Engagement, and Expression) that are essential for each child’s growth and flourishing.

Health & Safety

All staff, placement students and volunteers are anaphylaxis trained
All staff, placement students and volunteers are First-aid and CPR certified
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on site
Up-to-date vulnerable sector checks for all staff, placement students, volunteers, and Board of Directors
Smoke free centre
Video monitor front door entrance and Camera Surveillance outdoor
Monthly fire drills conducted

Dietary services:

In-house cook
Nut free premises
Pork free menu
Halal and vegetarian food options available
Allergy/Restriction list posted and updated as necessary in all classrooms, kitchen, and with staff at all times
